Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School: 48,000 SF LEED Gold campus in Washington, D.C. with energy-efficient MEP systems by Capitol Engineering Group for a sustainable learning environment.

Capitol Engineering Group is proud to have provided MEP engineering services for Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School’s new 48,000-square-foot campus in Washington, D.C. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to support the school’s mission of providing education and job training to immigrant adults, with a focus on sustainability as it pursues LEED Gold certification.

The design of the school creatively responds to the irregular shape of the building lot, with the western portion of the campus orthogonal, while the eastern section angles toward the street. A three-story atrium, with a full-height glazed curtain wall system, serves as the centerpiece of the building, bringing natural light into the heart of the school.

The V Street campus includes a resource center, classrooms for English and computer courses, culinary labs, a nursing aid training lab, a cafeteria, and an outdoor balcony. Capitol Engineering Group’s MEP systems were designed to ensure energy efficiency, comfort, and sustainability, supporting both the school’s educational goals and its commitment to environmental stewardship.
