4619 41st St. NW: Capitol Engineering Group delivers MEP solutions for a challenging mixed-use project in D.C., balancing history, sustainability, and technical demands.

Capitol Engineering Group provided MEP engineering services for the development of 4619 41st Street, a mixed-use project in the vibrant Wisconsin Avenue corridor of Washington, D.C. The site, with its rich historical context and unique technical challenges, required innovative engineering solutions to accommodate a modern building while preserving adjacent landmarks like the Western Union tower, a 73-foot Art Deco limestone structure.

The project involved the excavation of caisson footings from a removed radio tower, underpinning existing structures like the Dancing Crab restaurant, and ensuring no disruption to the Metro tunnel below. Capitol Engineering Group designed energy-efficient MEP systems to support the building's functionality and sustainability while managing the complex site conditions.

This project showcases Capitol Engineering Group’s ability to navigate intricate technical and historical constraints to deliver high-performing, mixed-use spaces.
